Venue, Travel and Accommodation
- How to get to the venue and how to get around:
From Tromsø Airport Langnes it is about 3 km to the city center (and Clarion Hotel The Edge). It is possible to take a taxi for about NOK 250 just outside the arrival area. Aero buses are located at the same place and take NOK 110 one way (Return ticket: NOK 180). A third and cheaper option (NOK 35 one way) is to take a public scheduled bus. You walk around 150-200 m to get to the bus stop. The possibilities from the airport are bus routes 24, 40 and 42 (Bus 42 only 16 min, the others a little bit more). For tickets, use the app “Troms Mobillett”. It costs NOK 35 instead of NOK 60 paid in cash on the bus. The app “Troms Reise” gives you the schedule (from “Flyplassen” to “Tromsø Sentrum” evt. ”Tromsø Prostneset”), but there is also real-time information at the bus stop about buses soon arriving. With the app, you may pay for several persons at a time (Be aware: It starts running at the time you buy it! and it lasts for 1,5 hours). (It is also possible to buy a 24 hours ticket (NOK 100) or a 7 days ticket (NOK 240) in the app.)
- IMPORTANT. The responsibility of booking the accommodation is on the participants.
- You may book a hotel room at the venue. For booking of rooms, use code: 31603 as this may provide you with a ~20% discount on the hotel room (standard price for single room = NOK 1431 for one person/night, and NOK 850,50 per person per night when two persons share a double room with 2 single beds). The hotel prefers booking by email to: cl.theedge@choice.no (If booking by phone, call +47 77 66 84 00). State the following when booking: Name, Single or double room (if sharing a double room, indicate who you wish to share the room with), Arrival, and departure dates. IMPORTANT: Hotel booking must be done as soon as possible!
- Alternative places to stay: It is hard to find a cheap hotel in Tromsø. You might try Smarthotel Tromsø or Comfort Hotel Express Tromsø. They are just 2-300 m from the venue hotel are a bit cheaper if you book the room well in advance. If you are early, you may also find other hotels or apartments at a reasonable price.
