Antibiotic Resistance: Recent Developments in Epidemiology and Implications for Patients and Healthcare Professionals
In this section, you will find the recordings of this webinar to watch, re-watch and share with your colleagues!
Dr. Márió Gajdács related a mixed-methods approach combining epidemiological and social science techniques for dealing with Antibiotic Resistance. He also discussed the potential impact of Artificial Intelligence in the field. Dr. Zia Ul Mustafa highlighted patterns of antimicrobial use in pediatric settings and underlined the importance of stewardship programs to optimize therapy, reduce resistance, and enhance patient safety.
Event Chair

School of Chemistry and Physics, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa,
Department of Organic Chemistry, University of Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain
Fernando Albericio is Research Professor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa & Emeritus Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Barcelona. He was the Inaugural Rector of Yachay Tech (Ecuador), and Founder and General Director of the Barcelona Science Park. Currently, he is catalyzing the creation of BioDurban. His major research interests cover practically all aspects of peptide synthesis (new reactions, building blocks, coupling reagents, solid phase supports, protecting groups, and linkers) and combinatorial chemistry methodologies, as well. Lastly, his group is concentrating its efforts on greening peptide synthesis. Furthermore, his group is also involved in the synthesis of peptides and small molecules with therapeutic activities (infectious diseases and cancer), and in nanotechnology, developing new systems for drug delivery and strategies for diagnostics as well. He has published more than 1100 scientific articles, filed more than 60 patents, and graduated more than 80 Ph.D. students.
Keynote Speakers

Márió Gajdács Pharm.D., MPH, MSc, Ph.D. is currently Senior Lecturer at the University of Szeged. He received his pharmacy degree, Ph.D. from medical microbiology and board certification in „Pharmacology, pharmacotherapy” from the University of Szeged; in addition, he holds a degree of Master of Public Health (MPH; specialization: epidemiology) and Master of Healthcare Management from the University of Pécs. His current research interests include the investigation of the drivers associated with antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and infectious diseases using epidemiological and social science methods, in addition to digital epidemiological studies. He published 170 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
