16th Webinar of Applied Sciences
Advances in Multiphase Electric Drives and Control
The purpose of this online seminar is to provide a miniforum to promote the research in electric drives and power conversion as an agent for improving the efficiency and reliability of the systems in which they are included. Concretly this webinar focus on the regulation of multiphase electric drives.
Addressing the global energy scenario requires the application of more competitive technological solutions in both the production and consumption of this energy. In this context, green energies generation, electric mobility or more electric industrial processes are considered exciting solutions to avoid greenhouse-gases emissions and optimize the consumption. All these solutions inherently include electric drives and thus, these have caught the attention of researchers involved in the development of electric vehicles, energy conversion systems and high-performance industrial motor applications. All these fields of work focus on enhancing the electric drive performance from different approaches ranging from the use of new semiconductor technology to the introduction of new control strategies, from the improved design of electrical machines to new VSC topologies. The multiphase electric drives are an interesting choice for variable-speed industrial applications with more demanding requirements because they offer an enhanced fault tolerance and a reduced per-phase current rating without increasing the rated voltage and their control has opened an extense field of research. For this reason, this webinar and this Special Issue aim to provide an insight into the state-of-the-art and advances of electric drives and multiphase electric drives, their regulation schemes and other progresses in power conversion. We’re holping researchers who are working on topics related to the Special Issue may consider to submit papers to this SI. Today, we are happy to have five speakers join this online webinar: Prof. Cruz, Dr. Gonçalves, Prof. Rodas, Prof. Ayala and Prof. Duran. All of them are senior researchers and have worked on multiphase electric drives related studies.
