Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the 5th International Electronic Conference on Processes, which will be hosted online from 20 to 22 October 2026.

This conference will present the latest studies in process/system-related research in the fields of chemistry, biology, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, materials, energy, environment, food, and engineering. The goal is to highlight the status, challenges and opportunities as well as future trends in process/systems engineering.

All processes/system-related scientists or researchers are welcome to join this event and share their insights on the following general and related topics, including, but not limited to, the following:

Session 1. Environmental and Green Processes;
Session 2. Chemical Processes and Systems;
Session 3. Food Process Engineering;
Session 4. Process Control, Monitoring and Machine Learning;
Session 5. Materials Manufacturing and Sustainable Packaging;
Session 6. Energy Systems.

Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the conference committee. All accepted abstracts will be available online in Open Access form on Sciforum.net during and after the conference. Following the conference, participants are cordially invited to contribute a research article to the Processes journal (ISSN: 2227-9717, Impact Factor: 2.8), with a 20% discount on the publication fee.

Giancarlo Cravotto is the Editor-in-Chief of Processes (MDPI) and a Full Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Department of Drug Science and Technology at the University of Turin. He served as the Director of the department from 2007 to 2018 and as Vice-Director until October 2024. His research focuses on green organic synthesis and processing, and is supported by more than 580 peer-reviewed scientific papers (H-index 82, with over 29,000 citations on Google Scholar; H-index 71, with 22,000 citations on Scopus) and 22 patents. As an expert in non-conventional technologies for process intensification, ranging from laboratory to semi-industrial applications, he collaborates with several industries, including chemical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, biomaterials, and food production sectors. Among his numerous national and international awards, he received the Gold Medal "E. Paternò" (2017–2020) from the Italian Chemical Society.

Prof. Blaz Likozar, is a head of the Department of Catalysis and Chemical Reaction Engineering at the National Institute of Chemistry (NIC), leading the programme “Chemical Reaction Engineering”, as well as numerous research projects (15 H2020 / >50 in Horizon Europe alone). His expertise lies (among others) in heterogeneous catalysis materials, modelling, simulation and optimization of process fluid mechanics, transport phenomena and chemical kinetics. He worked at the University of Delaware in 2014–2015 as a Fulbright Program researcher. He has authored >400 articles, was cited >10000 times, having a h-index of 61. He is also involved in many industrial projects, amongst others, with TotalEnergies, Evonik Industries, UPM, Novartis, Carbon Recycling International. He is a recipient of Pregl and Zois awards.

Dr. Adina Magdalena Musuc

Dr. Adina Magdalena Musuc is a Senior Researcher and Head of the Chemical Kinetics Department at the Institute of Physical Chemistry - Ilie Murgulescu with over 25 years of experience in the field of chemistry. Dr. Musuc has been honored with prestigious awards, “Gheorghe Spacu” prize by Romanian Chemical Society and the “Nicolae Teclu” award by Romanian Academy. Dr. Musuc has authored over 110 articles in ISI-indexed journals and holds 3 invention patents, with 2 additional patent applications pending. Her research focuses on the development of biopolymer-based hydrogels for biomedical and food industries, pharmaceutical formulations, innovative composite methods for energy applications.

Prof. Michael C. Georgiadis is the leader of the Process and Energy Systems Engineering Laboratory in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He holds an M.Sc. (1995) and PhD (1998) on process systems engineering both from Imperial College London. He is the recipient of a USA Fulbright scholarship (2019), a Distinguished visiting Professor at Tsinghua University (2018-2023), China and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Imperial College London (2015-2022). His research activities include Energy Systems Engineering, Production Scheduling and planning,  Energy markets optimization, Multi-scale process modelling, simulation and optimization, Process Plant Design, Optimization and Techno-economic analysis, Supply Chain modeling and Optimization. He has authored and co-authored over 150 publications in peer-reviewed international journals, 20 chapters in books, participated in over 150 international refereed conferences. His work has been cited more than 8800 times (according to Google scholar) from other researchers with an index of 54. He is the co-editor of a 7-volume series on Process Systems Engineering published by WILEY-VCH and co-author of a reference book on process and energy integration published by Begel House Inc. He has been in the organizing and chairing a committee of many international conferences including FOCAPO, PRES and ESCAPE. He has organized many workshops for industry and academia.  His research has been supported by various funding organisations including, EU, and industrial companies. More specifically he has been involved in over 20 EU-funded collaborative research projects as Principal Investigator and project coordinator in 9 of them.

I did research stays at the Universities Paul Sabatier Toulouse III and Claude Bernard Lyon I. I was also lecturer at the Universities of Jaén, Granada and Málaga and I am listed in the top 2% of the most-cited scientists on the list of high scientific impact issued annually by Stanford University.

Dr. Rafal Gieleciak is a Senior Researcher and Team Lead for Advanced Chemistry for Clean Fuels at Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), CanmetENERGY–Devon. He earned his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry and Ph.D. in Chemoinformatics and Molecular Modeling from the University of Silesia (Poland), where he also held academic positions before joining NRCan in 2007. His research combines advanced analytical chemistry, molecular-level characterization, and data-driven methods, chemometrics, and computational modeling to support fuel development, refining, and biocrude evaluation. He is the author/co-author of 60+ peer-reviewed publications, ~100 client and technical reports, and numerous conference presentations.

Dr. Kuo-Lin Huang is an Emeritus Professor of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineer from Clarkson University (USA) in 2001. His expertise focuses mainly on environmental and electrochemical technologies. Prof. Huang’s H-index scores on Google Scholar and Scopus in 2025 are 31 and 29, respectively. He has been on the editorial board of Processes (Section Board for Environmental and Green Processes) since 2021. He was a director of Association of Chemical Sensors in Taiwan (ACST) from 2014 to 2016 and a supervisor of Taiwan PM2.5 Control Association (PMCA) (2020–2024) and is a supervisor of Taiwan Association for Aerosol Research (TAAR) (2008–2026).

Marco S. Lucas is a researcher at the Department of Chemistry of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD, Portugal) and a member of the Vila Real Chemistry Research Centre (CQVR). He currently serves on the Scientific Council of the School of Life and Environmental Sciences (ECVA/UTAD). He holds a PhD in Chemistry and has a strong background in Environmental Engineering, with research focused on advanced water treatment technologies, particularly advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), photochemical treatment systems and wastewater reuse. If you are registering several people under the same registration, please do not use the same email address for each person, but their individual university email addresses. Thank you for your understanding.

Please note that the submission and registration are two separate parts. Only scholars who registered can receive a link to access the conference live streaming. The deadline for registration is 15 October 2026.

Instructions for Authors

The 5th International Electronic Conference on Processes will accept abstracts only.
The accepted abstracts will be available online on Sciforum.net during and after the conference.

Certificates of Participation are available in your logged-in area of Sciforum.net, under “My certificates” after the conference.

2. Abstract Submission
2.1 Abstract submissions should be completed online by registering with www.sciforum.net and using the "New Submission" function once logged into the system. No physical submission is necessary.
2.2 The abstract should include an introduction, methods, results, and conclusion sections, and be within 200-300 words in length.
2.3 All abstracts should be submitted and presented in clear, publication-ready English with accurate grammar and spelling.
2.4 You may submit multiple abstracts. However, only one abstract will be selected for oral presentation.
2.5 The abstracts submitted to this conference must be original and novel, without prior publication in any journals or it will not be accepted to this conference.

3. Detailed Requirements
3.1 The submitting author must ensure that all co-authors are aware of the contents of the abstract.
3.2 Please select only one presenter for each submission. If you would like to change the presenter after submission, please email us accordingly.

Note: We only accept live presentations.

4. Oral Presentation and Slides Submission
The slot for the oral presentation is 15 minutes. We recommend a 12-minute presentation, leaving about 3 minutes for a Q&A session.

Authors are encouraged to prepare a presentation in PowerPoint or similar software, to be displayed online along with the abstract. Slides, if available, will be displayed directly on the website using the proprietary slide viewer at Sciforum.net. Slides can be prepared in exactly the same way as for any traditional conference where research results are presented. Slides should be converted to PDF format prior to submission so that they can be converted for online display.

5. Poster Gallery

- Should include the title, authors, contact details and main research findings, as well as tables, figures and graphs where necessary.
- Size in pixel: 1080 width x 1536 height–portrait orientation.
- Size in cm: 38,1 width x 54,2 height–portrait orientation.

Authors with accepted abstracts have the option to showcase their research as a poster. This offers an excellent opportunity to showcase your research and engage with the wider conference community. Once your submission is accepted, you can upload your poster in the 'My submission' section by selecting the correct conference and submission, then clicking the upload button. If you encounter any difficulties during the upload process, please contact ecp2026@mdpi.com for assistance. All accepted posters will be permanently displayed online in the Poster Gallery.

6. Potential Conflicts of Interest
It is the authors' responsibility to identify and declare any personal circumstances or interests that may be perceived as inappropriately influencing the representation or interpretation of clinical research. If there is no conflict, please state "The authors declare no conflicts of interest." This should be conveyed in a separate "Conflict of Interest" statement preceding the "Acknowledgments" and "References" sections at the end of the manuscript. Any financial support for the study must be fully disclosed in the "Acknowledgments" section.

7. Copyright
MDPI, the publisher of the Sciforum.net platform, is an open access publisher. We believe authors should retain the copyright to their scholarly works. Hence, by submitting an abstract to this conference, you retain the copyright to the work, but you grant MDPI the non-exclusive right to publish this abstract online on the Sciforum.net platform. This means you can easily submit your full paper (with the abstract) to any scientific journal at a later stage and transfer the copyright to its publisher if required.

Publication Opportunities

1. Processes Publication
Participants in this conference are cordially invited to contribute a full manuscript to the conference's Special Issue (to be updated), published in Processes (ISSN: 2227-9717, Impact Factor: 2.8), with a 20% discount on the publication fee. Conference discounts cannot be combined with reviewer vouchers. All submitted papers will undergo MDPI’s standard peer-review procedure. The abstracts should be cited and noted on the first page of the paper.



2. Proceeding Paper Publication
Authors of accepted abstracts are highly encouraged to submit an extended proceeding paper (ideally 4–8 pages in length) for the conference's dedicated proceedings volume in the Engineering Proceedings journal (Indexed in Scopus, ISSN: 2673-4591) for free, after the conference.
