Dr. Cheong received his B.Sc. (Hons) in Applied Mathematics from the National University of Singapore, where he was recognized as a University Scholar, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from NUS. He served as an Assistant Professor at the Singapore University of Technology and Design from 2019 until October 2023, where he received the SUTD Annual Excellence in Teaching Award in 2022. He is currently an Associate Professor at NTU, where his interdisciplinary work spans theoretical and computational science. Dr. Cheong’s research focuses on the interdisciplinary applications of mathematical sciences to understand complex systems dynamics. His notable work on Parrondo’s games illustrates how strategies that appear disadvantageous can yield beneficial outcomes across various domains. Using techniques from stochastic processes, statistical analysis, and computational simulations, he investigates counterintuitive behaviors in physical, social, biological, and computing systems. In addition to his core research, his interests extend to the application of artificial intelligence in medical, healthcare, and educational domains. He has also published in PNAS, PRL, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, IEEE TEVC, IEEE TCYB, IEEE TSMC, IEEE TFS, and TNNLS. He serves on the editorial boards of several reputable journals including IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, Journal of Computational Science, Innovation and Emerging Technologies, Computers in Biology and Medicine, Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Human Neuroscience, Contemporary Mathematics and Games.

Prof. Vincent Crawford is the Drummond Professor of Political Economy Emeritus; an Emeritus Fellow of All Souls College; and Distinguished Professor Emeritus and Research Professor, University of California, San Diego. He holds an A.B. Summa cum Laude from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society, the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the British Academy, and Academia Europea; and he has held research grants from the U.S. National Science Foundation and the European Research Council. He has served as co-editor of the American Economic Review and of Games and Economic Behavior, and on the editorial boards of Econometrica, the Journal of Economic Literature, and several other journals. He is currently a co-editor of the Journal of Mechanism and Institution Design. He is known for his work on game-theoretic microeconomic theory, particularly bargaining and arbitration, strategic communication, matching markets, learning, and coordination. His current research is on behavioral and experimental game theory and behavioral economics more generally.

Jie Zheng is University Distinguished Professor at Shandong University, and he serves as the Director for the Center for Research on Experimental and Theoretical Economics (CREATE). He is recognized as Distinguished Expert of “Taishan Scholar” Project, and has received the “Changjiang Scholar Award” from Ministry of Education of the Chinese Government. Dr. Zheng received his B.A and M.A. in Economics from Tsinghua University, and Ph.D. in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis. He is an Associate Editor for Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization and a co-director of China Behavioral and Experimental Economics Forum. He has guest edited various special issues on games and economic behaviour for several journals. His main research fields are information economics, industrial economics, experimental economics and behavioral economics. He has published over 60 research papers in journals including Nature Communications, American Economic Review (Papers and Proceedings), Games and Economic Behavior, Management Science, Journal of Industrial Economics, Journal of Mathematical Economics, Experimental Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, as well as top Chinese journals.
