Meet Our Chairs
Department of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA;Professor Chen received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Science from Rutgers University and conducted his postdoctoral research at the National Cancer Institute of NIH. He had extensive research experience in metabolomics, nutritional biochemistry, animal metabolism, toxicology, and xenobiotic metabolism. His research focuses on mechanistic characterization of metabolic changes induced by dietary, chemical and pathophysiological challenges in human and animals.
School of Clinical Medicine, University of Cambridge, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge, UK;As a strategic consultant at the University of Cambridge, Dr Reza Salek lead translational initiatives in Artificial Intelligence and MedTech program development, with a focus on software and AI as a medical device (SaMD and AIaMD) within regulatory compliance frameworks. Previously, he served as Head of Application Development and Vice President for Bruker’s R&D, directing multidisciplinary teams to advance high-performance applications in medical and analytical devices. His career includes designing scalable workflow solutions for multi-omics data analysis at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC/WHO), driving insights into cancer epidemiology. At EMBL-EBI and the University of Cambridge, he established comprehensive knowledge resources and workflow infrastructures to support FAIR data governance and enable sophisticated data integration and interoperability.

Meet Our Speakers
The Einstein-Mount Sinai Diabetes Research Center (ES-DRC), Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA;Dr. Yunping Qiu received his Ph.D. degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2008, China. He worked as a Postdoc and research scientist at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Currently, Dr. Qiu is a Research Associate Professor at the department of medicine, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also serves as Operations Manager for the stable isotope and metabolomics core facility under the Albert Einstein-Mount Sinai Diabetes Research Center. His research interests include the method development for mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and metabolic flux protocols, and the understanding of metabolic variations associated with diabetes, cancers, infectious diseases, as well as the metabolic interactions with immune responses. Dr. Qiu co-authored more than 100 papers in the metabolomics field.

Calado: Coordinating professor with Aggregation at the Lisbon School of Engineering (ISEL – Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa), Polytechnic University of Lisbon. Coordinator of the Section of Bioengineering of the Chemical Engineering Department, Coordinator of the R&D Laboratory in Health Bioengineering, and Coordinator of the MSc course in Biomedical Engineering. Integrated member of the Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences (iBB), The Associate Laboratory Institute for Health and Bioeconomy–i4HB-IST. Presents an aggregation in Biochemistry (2022), PhD (2003) and MSc (1998) in Biotechnology, and a 5 years licenciatura degree in Biochemistry (1995). Presents a broad R&D experience in “Bioprocess Engineering”, and “Drugs and biomarkers discovery”. Supervised more than 100 students, including PhD, MSc and BSc students. PI. or co-P.I. of projects financed by FCT, ADI, and IPL. Coordinated a Team on the CoHiTec – 2012 Program and team member that won a EIT Digital Venture Program 2020.
