Beyond Standard Model
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to open this webinar discussion concerning hot topics in High Energy Physics.
Today, we are discussing why we are not satisfied with the Standard Model (the great theory that unified three over four basic interactions—electromagnetic, weak, and strong), what extensions, changes or completely new approaches are proposed by theorists to overcome problems, and finally, what is available from the experimental point of view at LHC.
Our session will be organized as follows: a theory presentation for 30 minutes, then 15 minutes for questions, comments, and proposals; an experimental presentation for 30 minutes, then 15 minutes for questions, comments, and proposals.
I am happy to present today’s speakers: Professor Abdelhak Djouadi, from the University of Granada, and Dr. of Science, Alexandre Nikitenko, from the Kurchatov Institute.

Olga Kodolova has been a member of CMS Collaboration at LHC since 1993. Olga’s fields of interest include: hadronic calorimetry, particle reconstruction and identification in heavy ion collisions, jet reconstruction and calibration, Standard Model and Beyond searches using CMS data, and computing. Olga was the convener of HCAL calibration with offline events in 2001-2007, CMS Heavy Ion group co-convener in 2008-2009, CMS HCAL Detector performance group co-convener in 2011-2012 and 2014-2015, CMS HCAL Institution Board Chair deputy in 2020-2021, and has been the CMS HCAL Institution Board Chair since January 2022.

My field of research is theoretical physics and the phenomenology of strong and electroweak interactions of elementary particles and the search for new physics beyond the Standard Model, the fundamental theory that presently describes them. My main focus was on the physics of the Higgs boson at high-energy colliders and the prediction of its production and detection rates that allowed the discovery of the particle at the CERN Large Hadron Collider in 2012. I also studied the manifestation of new phenomena from supersymmetric theories and models of extra space–time dimensions to the particles that form dark matter in the universe, both in astroparticle and collider experiments.

Alexandre Nikitenko has been a member of CMS Collaboration at LHC since 1992. Alexandre's fields of interest include: particle reconstruction and identification and searches for an additional Higgs boson using CMS data. Alexandre was CMS Tau, Higgs and Higgs-Exotica group coordinator, worked at LIP (Lisbon, Portugal), HIP (Helsinki, Finland), Saclay (France) and CERN from 1995 to 2001, and worked at Imperial College, London from 2001 to 2018.
