Welcome Message

MDPI is launching a special webinar to encourage researchers to come together, take action, and raise awareness about the global burden of viral hepatitis and the importance of a united effort to eliminate it.

Viral hepatitis is a major global health challenge, affecting millions of people worldwide, causing both acute and chronic disease, and resulting in 1.4 million deaths every year. With 296 million people living with chronic hepatitis B and 58 million people with chronic hepatitis C, raising awareness and driving global efforts for prevention, testing, and treatment is crucial.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you at the MDPI World Hepatitis Day Webinar 2024

A/Prof Yee-Joo TAN is trained in protein chemistry as well as virology and has been doing research on hepatitis viruses, influenza viruses as well as newly emerged viruses. Her laboratory uses both in vitro and in vivo experiments to understand the molecular mechanisms for viral-host interactions and adaptive immune responses to viral infection. She also studies the conservation of antibody epitopes in viral proteins as this has implication for the development of diagnostic assays.
