Venue, Travel and Accommodation
Location
The 20th century saw widespread urban renewal, culminating in the development of the iconic Eixample district, which showcases some of the city's most distinctive Catalan Art Nouveau, or Modernista, architecture. One of the most renowned architects of this movement, Antoni Gaudí, designed landmarks such as La Pedrera, Casa Batlló, and the world-famous Sagrada Família.
In 1992, Barcelona gained international recognition by hosting the Olympic Games, which spurred significant growth in its tourism industry. Today, the city seamlessly blends its historical heritage with modern innovations, creating a dynamic and vibrant urban landscape. Barcelona offers an abundance of outdoor markets, restaurants, shops, museums, and churches. The city is highly walkable, and for longer distances, it boasts an extensive and reliable Metro system.
