The 13th World Sustainability Forum

08 - 11 June 2027
Nice, France

Welcome from
the chair

It is a great pleasure to invite you to the 13th World Sustainability Forum (WSF-13), which will be held in Nice, on the French Riviera, from 8-11 June 2027.

Nice is a fitting place for this conversation. It is a Mediterranean city shaped by its coastline and its climate, and it faces in concentrated form the pressures that cities everywhere now confront, from rising temperatures and water stress to tourism, mobility and the protection of a landscape that is also a livelihood. It is equally a city and a region investing in the answers, in renewable energy, in the circular economy, in artificial intelligence and in the science that supports better public and private decisions.

WSF-13 continues a series that has brought researchers, policymakers and practitioners together since 2011 and that now meets every year. Our sessions span the breadth of sustainability research, from energy systems, biodiversity and water to the circular economy, food, mobility, education, green finance and the methods we use to measure progress and choose between options. The ambition of the forum is to keep the natural sciences, engineering and the social sciences in the same room, because the problems we work on do not divide along those lines.

The forum will also host the annual awards of the MDPI Sustainability Foundation, and it will leave ample space for the conversations between sessions that often matter most.

I look forward to welcoming you to Nice.

Kind regards,
Conference Chairs
