On Tuesday, 13 December 2022, MDPI and the Journal Agronomy organized the 2nd Webinar of the Agronomy series, entitled “Quantitative Genetics in Plant Breeding”.
Agronomy and plant breeding is now challenged by the emergence of big data of multiple dimensions. How to choose proper parametric or nonparametric methodologies for genome-wide association study or genomic prediction with a good control on overfitting is critical. Integration of multi-type variants, including chromosome-scale haplotype information, in genomic analysis will significantly increase DNA-level resolution to disclose important genetic information. Specialized algorithms are needed to address model complexity for identifying genes with tiny and over-dominant effects. Prof. Dr. Zhenyu Jia, Prof. Dr. Shizhong Xu, and Prof. Dr. Yuan-Ming Zhang presented different solutions and insights on these topics. The presentations were followed by a Q&A session moderated by the chair.
The webinar was offered via Zoom and required registration to attend. The full recording can be found below. In order to stay updated on the next webinars on Agronomy, be sure to sign up for our newsletter by clicking on “Subscribe” at the top of the page.
