2nd Agronomy Webinar

Quantitative Genetics in Plant Breeding

We're looking forward to your participation in the webinar entitled “Quantitative genetics in plant breeding”. I would like to thank the MDPI journal and the editorial office for organizing and hosting this webinar.

We are very pleased and honored to have Distinguished Professor Shizhong Xu to give the first lecture today. Professor Xu is a well-known leading scientist in quantitative genetics and has made significant contribution to the field. Methodologies developed by Xu Lab have been widely applied to various areas, including plant breeding and agricultural sciences. He published about 170 journal articles and two textbooks (Statistical Genomics 2012 and Quantitative Genetics 2022). Today, Professor Xu will talk about “Big Data, Model Complexity and Machine Learning”. Next, I will give a presentation entitled “Inference of chromosome-scale haplotypes using genomic data of single gametes”.

We are also very pleased and honored to have Professor Yuan-Ming Zhang to give the last lecture. Professor Zhang is a famous professor of quantitative genetics and is well known for the development of advanced GWAS models for identifying various genetic effect and their interaction with environment. Professor Zhang has published about 160 journal articles. Today, Professor Zhang will talk about a comprehensive solution for detecting small and over-dominant genes using extreme phenotype individuals in F2.
