Bio
In 1974 Constable began studying chemistry at St. Catherine's College, University of Oxford, where he earned his BA in chemistry in 1978. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Cambridge, where he became University Lecturer and Fellow of Robinson College in 1984. He remained at Cambridge until 1993, when he became full professor of inorganic chemistry at the University of Basel. In 2007 he became Dean of Research at the Faculty of Philosophy and Natural Sciences and in 2011 Vice Rector for Research and Promotion of Young Scientists. Constable is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a member of the American Chemical Society. He is a member of the editorial board of numerous journals including Chemical Communications, Chemical Reviews, Chemical Society Reviews, Coordination Chemistry Reviews, New Journal of Chemistry, Polyhedron and Supramolecular Chemistry.

Kostas works at the European Commission, where he leads the unit in charge of Open Science in the directorate general for Research & Innovation since 1 June 2019. From 2014 to 2019 he led the unit responsible for EU international cooperation policy in STI and for relations with European Economic Area countries, Switzerland, Russia, Western Balkans, Turkey, all of Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Kostas has been developing EU policy and managing R&D programmes in the area of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) in Brussels since 1992. Policy areas he has dealt with include open science and innovation, collaboration in research, industry-academia interaction, the governance of research commons, public-private partnerships, science diplomacy and international cooperation policy at bilateral and bi-regional level. At various points in time he has been responsible for funding programmes in future and emerging technologies, cyber-physical systems, ICT research infrastructure and big research data. In the academic year 2017-2018 Kostas was a visiting Fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore where he taught regionalism in Europe and in Southeast Asia. Before joining the Commission Kostas worked in the chemical industry in the USA and Belgium, lectured at the University and carried out research in Greece. He holds a PhD in engineering from the University of Massachusetts and an Advanced Professional Certificate in investment management from Drexel University in the USA.

Michael began his professional career in market research at National Opinion Polls (London) before moving to France in 1998 where he became the European Society of Cardiology’s (ESC) webmaster, delivering their first Content Management System website in 2003. The print-to-electronic content transition meant it was a natural move to the ESC’s publishing programme. In 2004, he became the ESC’s Head of Publications with a portfolio of 7 journals and 1 textbook. Today, that portfolio has grown to 15 journal titles (including the leading cardiology and cardiovascular system title, the European Heart Journal) and 22 books including the ESC’s flagship title that won the BMA Award for best book in cardiology. After 22 years at the ESC, Michael finds ongoing publishing industry changes refreshing, challenging, and exciting.

Dr Arianna Becerril García. Professor at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico; Executive Director of Redalyc and President of AmeliCA. Full-time professor-researcher at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM). Member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) of Mexico. She holds a PhD and MSc in Computer Science, Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico. And she holds a BA in Computer Engineering, UAEM. She’s part of the founding team of the Network of Scientific Journals from Latin America and the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal (redalyc.org) where she is the current Executive Director. Dr Becerril is founder and president of AmeliCA Conocimiento Abierto S.C. She’s co-founder of Red Mexicana de Repositorios Institucionales (“Mexican Network of Institutional Repositories”). She’s member of the steering committee of InvestInOpenInfrastructure (IOI), and board member in The Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services (SCOSS), she is also part of the council of the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). Professor Arianna has participated in numerous national and international conferences. Her research interests are Open Access, technologies for scholarly publishing, Artificial Intelligence, Semantic Web and Linked Open Data. Miho Funamori is the strategy manager at the Research Center for Open Science and Data Platform newly set up in April 2017 at the National Institute of Informatics in Japan. She makes policy analysis on the world trend of higher education and scholarly communication and gives advice on strategic decisions within NII and beyond. At the same time, she coordinates international and domestic linkages related to research data management. Having worked for ten years at the headquarter of the University of Tokyo giving advice to the administration, she specializes in international higher education policy and university management, and is knowledgeable in the higher education sphere domestically and internationally. She is Board Director of FORCE11 since 2019—a community to discuss the Future of Research Communications and e-Scholarship. Prior to joining the academia, she has worked at the Office for International Cooperation, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and Science and Technology Unit, Mitsubishi Research Institute.

INASP works with partners across Africa, Asia and Latin America to build more equitable knowledge ecosystems. Jon is responsible for INASP’s programme strategy and the team that runs INASP’s AuthorAID platform, its online learning programme for Southern researchers, and partnerships addressing gender and equity in research. In 2019-20 Jon led a consultation on behalf of FCDO, UKRI and NIHR to understand the challenges and opportunities presented by Open Access for Low and Middle-Income Countries, and the possible impacts of UK OA policy (see report<https://www.inasp.info/publications/open-access-challenges-and-opportunities-low-and-middle-income-countries-and-potential>). Jon has worked at the intersections of research capacity, higher education and international development for the last 15 years. He also leads the Transforming Employability for Social Change in East Africa (TESCEA) partnership.

Tiberius Ignat is the Director of Scientific Knowledge Services, a company that specializes in helping European libraries to embrace new technologies and ways of working. He runs in partnership with UCL Press and LIBER Europe a successful series of workshops - Focus On Open Science, now in its sixth year. After being a long-time individual member of LIBER, he became a LIBER Associate through his company where he is now the vice-chair of LIBER Citizen Science Working Group. Tiberius is a member of the European Citizen Science Association and Citizen Science Association (US) and a member of the Scientific Committee for OAI, the CERN - Geneva University Workshops on open science. He was part of the organising committee of the Sorbonne Declaration on Research Data Rights and is currently doing research on internet tracking in a project which involves citizen scientists. Tiberius Ignat has a personal interest in open science, particularly in citizen science and how open science could remain protected against unethical technologies. He has a PhD in Library and Information Science from the University of Bucharest.

Iryna Kuchma is the EIFL Open Access Programme Manager. Working in collaboration with libraries and library consortia in more than 50 countries in Africa, Asia and Europe, she advocates for open access to research results, facilitates the development and implementation of open science policies and infrastructures, and provides support and training. Iryna also co-chairs the OpenAIRE Community of Practice for Training Coordinators and the OpenAIRE Training and Support Standing Committee. She sits on the boards of directors of the Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services (SCOSS) and the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD). She serves on the UNESCO Open Science Advisory Committee as an international expert. In addition, she serves on the advisory boards of the Community-led Open Publication Infrastructures Project (COPIM) and Open Access Week. Iryna is a member of the Coalition Publi.ca International Committee, and of the DSpace Community Advisory Team. And she is an Associate Editor for the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). In 2013, Iryna received the Electronic Publishing Trust (EPT) for Development Annual Award, in recognition of her ‘efforts in the furtherance of open access to scholarly publications in the developing and emerging countries’.

Rachael Lammey is Head of Strategic initiatives at Crossref. Based in Oxford (but at home for the last year), she worked for Taylor & Francis for six years before joining Crossref in 2012. Rachael worked in Product Management and Community Outreach at Crossref before moving over to the R&D team in 2021 . She is more than happy to talk about most things Crossref, but grant registration, data citation and organization identifiers are a good starting point.

David Mellor leads the Policy and Incentive programs at the Center for Open Science. These focus on rewarding increased transparency in scientific research, such as policies for publishers and funders in the Transparency and Openness Promotion Guidelines (TOP: cos.io/top); preregistration to increase clarity in study design and analysis (cos.io/prereg); removing publication bias with Registered Reports (cos.io/rr); and recognizing increased transparency with badges (cos.io/badges). Before coming to the Center for Open Science, Dr. Mellor worked with citizen scientists to design and implement authentic scientific research (collaborativescience.org) and as the Director of Advising in the Division of Life Sciences at Rutgers University. His research interests include citizen science, behavioral ecology, and meta-scientific inquiry.

Delia Mihaila joined MDPI in March 2013. She previously held the positions of Managing Editor, Publishing Development Manager, and Publishing Director within MDPI. Delia held the CEO position within MDPI previously, from February 2015 to April 2016. She holds a Master of Arts in International Publishing from Oxford Brookes University. Before joining MDPI she worked as Journal Publishing Manager for John Wiley & Sons in the UK, where she was responsible for the strategic development and performance of a large portfolio of journals within the health sciences division. Before obtaining her Master’s degree in the UK, she worked as Business Development Manager for a medical publisher in Romania and acquired project management experience being involved in several PHARE European projects.

Abel co-founded the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) in 1997, a Program of the São Paulo State Foundation (FAPESP) committed to the advancement of Brazilian scientific research and communication through the open access indexing and publication of a selected collection of quality peer-reviewed journals. The SciELO Publishing Model which adopts open science communication practices operates open access journal collection in 17 countries. Currently Abel is Director of SciELO. He is also Project Coordinator at the Foundation of the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) and former Director of the Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences (BIREME/PAHO/WHO). Abel has a bachelor's degree in Business Management and a Master of Library Science with extensive experience in information science, librarianship, information technology, and information management.

Julien Roche is the director of libraries and learning center at the University of Lille, France. He served from 2012 to 2018 first as Secretary General then as Vice-President of the ADBU, the French Association of higher education and research library directors. In July 2018, he was elected as LIBER Vice-President, the main Association of European Research Libraries in Europe. Julien Roche also has several national responsibilities including member of the scientific board of the French national bibliographic agency and co-chair of the “European and international” college of the French Open Science Committee.

Kathryn Sharples is Publishing Development Director at Wiley. During her 15+year career at Wiley she has worked in a variety of editorial roles including leading a global publishing team in statistics & mathematics. Her current focus is on the development and implementation of strategies to enable subject portfolio development and the growth of Wiley’s Open Access journal portfolio. She’s passionate about transparency in the research and publishing process and recently worked to introduce data sharing policies across the Wiley journal portfolio.

Wilhelm Widmark is the Library Director of Stockholm University since 2012. He is also Senior Advisor for Open Science to the President of Stockholm University. He has a Master of Arts in literature and a Master of Arts in library and information science from Uppsala University. Wilhelm is active in the Open Science movement in Sweden and Europe. He is the Vice Chairman of the Swedish Bibsam consortia and a member of the Swedish Rectors conference Open Science group. He is also a member of EUAs Expert Group on Open Science and one of the Directors of EOSC Association.
