7th Catalysts Webinar
Women in Catalysts
International Women Day is a day of celebration of the achievements of women in all fields. We want to celebrate Women Day by highlighting women-led research. Many groups are nowadays led by women and many goals have been achieved in catalysis. To this purpose two colleagues leaders in their fields will tell us about their last findings in two particular subjects: Dr. Sonia Carabineiro will show the last finding in gold catalysis, while Dr. Francesca Deganello will talk about the design of waste-derived inorganic catalysts by means of solution combustion synthesis.
Date: 8 March 2021
Time: 11:00 am CET
Webinar ID: 827 3955 4334

From 2007 to 2013 she was Assistant Researcher at the University of Porto, Portugal, and Principal Researcher from 2013 to 2018. In 2019 she was an Invited (Visiting) Professor in the Wuhan Textile University, China and an Integrated Researcher at the University of Lisbon. She obtained Habilitation in Chemistry at the same University. In 2020 she became an Assistant Professor at the New University of Lisbon. She is (co-)author of more than 20 chapters in books, more than 160 articles in international scientific journals, more than 200 communications to national and international conferences, and more than 15 invited talks. She is co-inventor of 1 worldwide patent, evaluator of several international project proposals (including European Research Council grants). She has more than 4800 citations and an h index of 39 (Web of Science). She is a regular referee of several international journals, including ChemCatChem being currently one of the top female reviewers in the world (Publons Clarivate). She is also a member of the Editorial and Reviewer Boards of several journals. Recently, she was including in a list of the top 2% most cited scientists in the world published by Stanford University. Her research interests deal with catalysts by gold nanoparticles, single and mixed metal oxides, nanostructured carbon materials (including carbon nanotubes and graphene), heterogenization of homogenous complexes, gas and liquid phase oxidations, and environmental catalysis. |
Dr. Francesca Deganello, Institute of Nanostructured Materials, Palermo Research Division, CNR - ISMN, Italy
|
Dr. Francesca Deganello is a researcher at CNR-ISMN Palermo (Italy) since 2001. In March 1996 she got the Chemistry degree at the Università degli Studi di Palermo and in February 2002 she obtained her PhD certificate in Chemical Sciences at the same University. She is involved in several national and international projects on the preparation and characterization of sustainable nanomaterials, especially mixed oxides with perovskite-type structure for solid oxide fuel cells operating at intermediate temperatures, for metal-air batteries, and for the degradation of pollutants in the air and in industrial wastewater. In particular, she is responsible for the ISMN unit for the Eurostars project “NanoPerWater: Fabrication of a novel Water filtration membrane based on NanoPerovskite for abatement of CECs“, where she coordinates the synthesis of the catalytic perovskite-type powders.
