Abstract: An simple, general, efficient and greener method has been developed for one pot regioselective synthesis of pyrimido[1,2-a]benzimidazole is described. Starting from the 2-aminobenzimidazole, malononitrile and carbonyl compound, the methodology involves a ring closure by different ways based on the reaction medium was confirmed by NOE and X-ray studies.
