Abstract: The authors report on the use of the reaction system BrCCl3/PPh3 in the amidation of carboxylic acids, in the preparation of anhydrides from carboxylic acids and in the esterification of carboxylic acids with cholesterol, where cinnamic acids were used as acid component in all three transformations. Furthermore, the use of BrCCl3/PPh3 in the dehydration of benzcarboxamides to benzonitriles was studied as well as the preparation of N-(phenylsulfonyl)-triphenylphosphoranylideneamide from benzenesulfonamide.
