Welcome from the Chair
The 1st International Online Conference on Photonics, centered around the theme of optics and photonics, is scheduled to take place from October 14–16, 2024. This conference aims to highlight and facilitate the utilization of recent advancements in all areas related to optics and photonics, as well as to address complex issues, exchange the latest scientific breakthroughs, and guide the development of future technologies and processes in these fields.
This conference is an excellent opportunity for Optics and Photonics researchers and scientists to interact with each other, communicate with colleagues, learn from each other, share ideas and experiences, jointly solve problems, and suggest alternative solutions for a better future in the Optics and Photonics industry. Francesco Prudenzano received the Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering from the Politecnico di Bari, Bari, Italy, in November 1996. Since 2018, he has been a Full Professor of electromagnetic fields with the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Politecnico di Bari. His research interests include the design and characterization of microwave devices, integrated optics, and optical fiber-based devices. He is the Head of Microwave and Optical Engineering Group, Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Politecnico di Bari. From 2017 to 2018, he was the Chair of SIOF, Italian Society of Optics and Photonics (Italian branch of EOS - European Optical Society). He has coauthored more than 400 publications, 295 of which got published in journals and international conferences, lectures, and invited papers. He is involved in several national and international research projects and cooperations.

Huabei Jiang started his career as an Assistant Professor at Clemson University in 1997, and became a full Professor there in 2003. He then joined University of Florida (UF) in 2005 as a founding senior faculty of then newly established biomedical engineering department and became the J. Crayton Pruitt Family endowed professor in 2008 at UF. Dr. Jiang joined University of South Florida (USF) in 2017 as a founding faculty of medical engineering department and the founding Director of USF Center for Advanced Biomedical Imaging. In his career, Professor Jiang has used optics in highly innovative ways to make pioneering and seminal contributions to several fields including diffuse optical tomography (DOT), photoacoustic tomography (PAT), fluorescence molecular tomography (FMT), and bioluminescence tomography (BLT). He has published nearly 500 peer-reviewed articles, and is the author of four noteworthy books (all were the first books in their respective fields): Diffuse Optical Tomography: Principles and Applications (CRC Press, 2010), Photoacoustic Tomography (CRC Press, 2014), Thermoacoustic Tomography: Principles and Applications (IOP Publishing, 2020), and Fluorescence Molecular Tomography: Principles and Applications (Springer, 2022). Professor Jiang was elected as Fellow of American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) in 2008, Fellow of International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) in 2007, and Fellow of Optical Society of America (OSA) in 2006. Outside of his research/teaching, Huabei enjoys practicing Chinese Calligraphy and paintings (ink/color pencil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, and oil). He had two one-person exhibitions of his artworks in July 2019 and August 2023, respectively, in Chengdu, China, and has won multiple awards in several international art competitions since 2021.
Dr. Maurizio Ferrari

Maurizio Ferrari (Trento 25-06-1955) received the Doctor in Physics degree from Trento University, Italy, in a.y. 1979/1980. Until 1989, he worked as a Researcher with the Laboratoire de Physico-Chimiedes Matériaux Luminescents, Lyon, France, and in 1989 he moved to Trento as a Researcher with the CNR. He has been Director of Research with the Institute for Photonics and Nanotechnologies, CNR, where he was the Head the IFN-CNR Trento unit till 31 December 2021. M.F. is Senior Associated CNR-IFN since 01 July 2022. He is co-author of more than 600 publications in international journals, of several book chapters and he is involved in numerous national and international projects concerning glass photonics. Researcher ID: H-3362-2011; Orcid ID: 0000-0003-3723-5957 MF was elected in 2013 SPIE Fellow and OSA Fellow in September 2017 for significant achievements in the spectroscopic characterization of glasses and glass-ceramics and their application to photonic structures and devices, as well as for actively serving the optical community. He has been member of several Scientific, Program and Steering Committees, and Chair of national and international conferences and workshops, member of evaluation committee at CNR and for other national and foreign research institutions, research director and jury member of several PhD theses. He is referee of several international scientific reviews in physics, photonics, and material science. His main scientific area of research is devoted to Glass Photonics and covers: properties, structure and processing of glasses, crystals and film for optical applications and photonics; energy transfer, optical and spectroscopic properties; integrated optics; nanocomposites materials and confined structures including photonic crystals, waveguides, microcavities, and microresonators.

The registration for IOCP 2024 will be free of charge! The registration includes attendance to all conference sessions.
If you are registering several people under the same registration, please do not use the same email address for each person, but their individual university email addresses. Thank you for your understanding.
Please note that the submission and registration are two separate parts. Only scholars who registered can receive a link to access the conference live streaming. The deadline for registration is 9 October 2024 .
Instructions for Authors
2. Deadline for abstract acceptance notification:23rd June 2024 10th August 2024. You will be notified of the acceptance of an oral/poster presentation in a separate email.
1. The structure abstract should include the introduction, methods, results, and conclusions sections of about 200–300 words in length.
2. All accepted abstracts will be published in the conference report of the 1st International Online Conference on Photonics in Physical Sciences Forum (ISSN: 2673-9984); if you wish to publish an extended proceeding paper (4-8 pages), please submit it to the same journal after the conference.
3. All abstracts should be submitted and presented in clear, publication-ready English with accurate grammar and spelling.
4. You may submit multiple abstracts. However, only one abstract will be selected for oral presentation.

1. The submitting author must ensure that all co-authors are aware of the contents of the abstract.
2. Please select only one presenter for each submission. If you would like to change the presenter after submission, please email us accordingly.
Note: We only accept live presentations.
- Should include the title, authors, contact details and main research findings, as well as tables, figures and graphs where necessary.
- File format: PDF (.pdf).

Participants in this conference are cordially invited to contribute a full manuscript to the conference's Special Issue 'Exploring Cutting-Edge Technologies and Applications of Optics and Photonics', published in Photonics (ISSN: 2304-6732, Impact Factor 2.1), with a 20% discount on the publication fee.
Please note that no other discounts are applicable. All submitted papers will undergo MDPI’s standard peer-review procedure. The abstracts should be cited and noted on the first page of the paper.
2. Proceeding Paper Publication
You are welcome to submit a proceeding paper (4-8 pages) to Physical Sciences Forum Journal (ISSN: 2673-9984) after the conference. Publication of the proceedings will be free of charge. Authors are asked to disclose that it is a proceeding paper of the IOCP 2024 conference paper in their cover letter. Please submit your manuscript from 16 October to 1 December 2024.
Carefully read the rules outlined in the 'Instructions for Authors' on the journal’s website and ensure that your submission adheres to these guidelines.
Manuscripts for the proceedings issue must be formatted as follows:

Sensors and the interrogation setup (laser and light source) are paramount in a variety of applications in modern society, and for this reason, they have attracted the attention of academic as well as industry researchers. The photonic devices involved exploit all the phenomena (nano-plasmonic, meta-surfaces, photonic-crystal-assisted surface waves, surface-enhanced Raman scattering) that provide sub-wavelength light confinement and light–matter interaction enhancements at the nanoscale. This session delves into the methods and techniques utilized to develop lasers, light sources and sensors systems.
