Halogenated Thiophenes as Precursors in the Preparation of Halogenated and Arylated Anthraquinones
Published: 15 November 2008 by MDPI in The 12th International Electronic Conference on Synthetic Organic Chemistry session General Organic Synthesis
Abstract: Halogenated anthraquinones can be synthesized directly from halogenated thiophenes, when these are reacted with 1,4-naphthoquinones in the presence of meta chloroperoxybenzoic acid. The halogenated anthraquinones are versatile building blocks in the preparation of arylated anthraquinones and of extended p-systems with interspersed anthraquinone units.
