Abstract: Tetrabutylammonium phtalimide-N-oxyl (TBAPINO) can be used as an efficient organocatalyst for the conversion of alcohols to their corresponding trimethylsilyl ethers with hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS). All reactions were performed under mild and completely homoogeneous reaction conditions in high to quantitative yields.
