Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the International Conference on Veterinary Sciences 2027, to be held in May 2027 in Hangzhou, China.

Under the theme “Integrating Veterinary Science and One Health for Global Wellbeing, this conference aims to bring together leading scientists, clinicians, industry experts, and policymakers from around the world. Our goal is to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration at the interface of veterinary science, translational research, and global health.

The scientific program has been carefully designed to reflect both emerging frontiers and real-world challenges in veterinary sciences, and will cover the following key sessions:
• Microbial Frontiers, Immunology, and Translational Biologicals for Animal Health
• Precision Veterinary Medicine and Digital Clinical Transformation
• Infectious Diseases, Biosecurity, and One Health Leadership
• Veterinary Industry Innovation and Global Translational Pathways
• Veterinary Public Health, Food Systems, and Global Food Safety

These sessions will highlight cutting-edge advances in areas such as genomic surveillance, systems immunology, AI-assisted diagnostics, antimicrobial resistance, translational vaccinology, and sustainable animal production systems. Importantly, the conference will emphasize the integration of science, industry, and governance to address complex global challenges under the One Health framework.

We are honored to welcome an outstanding lineup of speakers and contributors whose work spans fundamental research, clinical innovation, and industrial application. Their insights will provide a comprehensive perspective on how veterinary sciences can contribute to global health security, food safety, and sustainable development.

We sincerely thank all participants for their engagement and contributions. We are confident that this conference will serve as a dynamic platform for exchanging ideas, building collaborations, and shaping the future of veterinary sciences.

Prof. Dr. Patrick Butaye

Department of Pathobiology, Pharmacology and Zoological Medicine, Ghent University, Merelbeke, Belgium;Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China;Professor Patrick Butaye is STEM-professor at City University’s Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences. Patrick graduated with a degree of Veterinary Medicine from Ghent University in 1994. In 2000, he obtained his PhD from the same university. Following this, he worked as Senior researcher and head of division at the former Veterinary and Agrochemical Research institute in Brussel until 2015. In 2006, he became Adjunct Professor at Ghent University and still holds that position. In 2015, he started a Professorship at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, whereafter in 2023, he started at City University of Hong Kong. He is also senior research fellow at the One Health Research Foundation, Miramar Florida. Patrick is or has been member of several national and international advisory committees and expert panels and has been ad hoc expert on a multitude of occasions. These include the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), World Health Organization (Who), Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO), Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Belgian Food safety authority (FAVV). He is member of the Executive board of the European Study Group on Veterinary Microbiology (ESGVM), as part of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID). He has been member of several project review panels worldwide. Patrick is Editor in Chief of the journal Veterinary Sciences (MDPI), member of the Editorial Board of BMC Veterinary Research and Editor for PlosOne and Associate Editor for Frontiers in Antimicrobials, Resistance and Chemotherapy as well as Guest Editor for Frontiers in Veterinary Science.

Prof. Dr. Wentao Li

College of Veterinary Medicine, Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan, China;Prof. Dr. Wentao Li is a Professor at the College of Animal Science and Technology and the College of Veterinary Medicine at Huazhong Agricultural University, China. He currently serves as the Director of the Animal Disease Diagnostic Center. His research focuses on the diagnosis, pathogenesis, and control of major animal infectious diseases, particularly African swine fever and animal coronaviruses. Prof. Li’s work also encompasses the identification and characterization of emerging viruses in pigs, dogs, and cats, as well as investigations into viral invasion mechanisms and host–pathogen interactions. In addition, his research extends to the discovery of disease-resistant genes for breeding purposes and the development of antiviral strategies, including therapeutic monoclonal antibodies and small-molecule drugs. He has led and participated in several major research initiatives, including national-level funding programs and projects on disease surveillance, early warning systems, and antiviral breeding strategies. Prof. Li holds a Ph.D. in Preventive Veterinary Medicine from Huazhong Agricultural University and a Ph.D. from Utrecht University, the Netherlands. He is a doctoral supervisor and an active member of key national research platforms, including the State Key Laboratory of Agricultural Microbiology. Prof. Li has received multiple honors, including recognition as a national high-level talent and a Global Highly Cited Researcher (2022), reflecting his significant contributions to veterinary science and infectious disease research.

Prof. Dr. Zhiqiang Wang

College of Veterinary Medicine , Yangzhou University, Yangzhou, China;Prof. Wang serves as Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Yangzhou University. He is an expert consultant for veterinary drug evaluation under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, a member of the National Expert Committee on Veterinary Drug Residues and Antimicrobial Resistance Control, Vice Chairman of the Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology Branch of the Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Society, and President of the Rational Veterinary Medication Branch of the China Veterinary Medical Association. His research focuses on the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance dissemination in major livestock and poultry pathogens and the development of innovative prevention and control strategies. He has led more than 20 national and provincial research projects, including those supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). As first corresponding author, he has published over 150 SCI-indexed papers in leading international journals, including Nature Microbiology and Nature Communications. Prof. Wang also serves as Editor-in-Chief of Veterinary Pharmacology and Clinical Drug Handbook for Dogs and Cats, and Associate Editor of Veterinary Pharmaceutics, a national “14th Five-Year Plan” textbook for higher agricultural and forestry education institutions in China. He has also edited or co-edited five textbooks and scholarly monographs and holds ten authorized patents.

Prof. Dr. Jiyong Zhou

Center for Veterinary Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China; Key Laboratory of Animal Virology, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Hangzhou, China;Professor Zhou Jiyong is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Zhejiang University. He currently serves as Director of the Animal Medicine Center, Zhejiang University, and Director of the Key Laboratory of Animal Virology of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. He also serves as Chairman of the Animal Immunology Committee of the Zhejiang Immunological Society. He was a member of the 7th Veterinary Discipline Evaluation Group under the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, a member of the 2nd National Animal Epidemic Prevention Expert Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Biotechnology Branch of the Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine. Professor Zhou has long been engaged in research on theories and technologies for the prevention and control of animal viral infectious diseases. He was appointed as a Chang Jiang Scholar Distinguished Professor by the Ministry of Education (2009), selected for the National Ten Thousand Talents Program for Scientific and Technological Innovation Leaders (2012), and awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He has presided over more than 30 national and provincial ministerial research projects, including the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. His research achievements have won the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award, the Second Prize of the National Technological Invention Award, the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress. Biological products including vaccines and diagnostic reagents developed by his team have obtained official New Veterinary Drug Registration Certificates issued by the state. He has published papers in journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine.

Prof. Dr. Gaiping Zhang

Peking University, Beijing, China;Professor Gaiping Zhang is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a leading expert in animal immunology and rapid immunodiagnostic technologies. He is a professor at the Modern Agriculture College of Peking University and serves as the Chief Scientist of the Longhu Modern Immunology Laboratory. Professor Zhang has devoted his career to research on the pathogenesis of animal viral diseases, prevention and control of major animal infectious diseases, and rapid detection technologies for food safety. He has made internationally recognized contributions in the fields of veterinary immunology and biotechnology. He established three major immunochromatographic rapid detection platforms based on antigens, antibodies, and haptens, and developed a series of rapid diagnostic test products that have been widely applied in animal disease surveillance and food safety testing. He has also conducted systematic studies on animal immunoglobulin Fc receptors and viral immune recognition mechanisms, and proposed innovative concepts such as “immune potential” and “super vaccines.” Professor Zhang has led numerous major national research programs, including projects under the National “863” Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the National Key R&D Program. He has received one National Technological Invention Award (Second Class) and one National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Class), along with more than ten provincial and ministerial science and technology awards. He has published over 500 scientific papers and holds more than 70 authorized patents, making outstanding contributions to animal disease control and immunodiagnostic technologies.

Prof. Dr. Javier  Guitian

Prof. Dr. Javier Guitian

The Royal Veterinary College, University of London, UK;Professor Javier Guitian serves as a consultant epidemiologist to the UK Animal and Plant Health Agency. He acts as the Head of the RVC’s FAO Reference Centre in Veterinary Epidemiology and as the Institute Lead of the WOAH Collaborating Centre in Risk Analysis and Modelling. Since early 2025, he supports the FAO Secretariat for the Global Eradication of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR), leading its epidemiological work. He is a Graduate Statistician of the Royal Statistical Society and a Fellow of the Institute of Food Science and Technology. He holds an honorary research associate position at the Social Sciences Research Institute (INCISO) of Universidad Mayor de San Simon, Bolivia. Professor Javier Guitian conducts applied research on a range of topics across the animal and human health spectrum, mostly focusing on zoonotic diseases and food safety. His work combines epidemiological studies in livestock and human populations and analysis of animal and public health surveillance data.
