Veterinary Sciences (ISSN 2306-7381, IF 2.7, CiteScore 3.9 ) is an international and interdisciplinary scholarly open access journal. It publishes original research articles, reviews, communications, and short notes that are relevant to any field of veterinary sciences, including prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease, disorder and injury in animals. There is no restriction on the maximum length of the papers.
Established in 2019 on a century-old discipline, the Zhejiang University Center for Veterinary Sciences is a premier university-level research institute that integrates education, research, and social services. It holds full academic authorization to confer doctoral degrees, professional Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees, and host a post-doctoral mobile station. The Center serves as a vital hub supporting multiple prestigious research bases, including key Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs laboratories and provincial preventive medicine labs. Its advanced infrastructure features a nearly 2,300-square-meter ABSL-2+ laboratory alongside specialized units like a Veterinary Teaching Hospital, inspection-testing platforms, and GCP-compliant animal experiment facilities. Driven by a high-caliber faculty, the Center includes three Chinese Academy of Engineering members as Qiushi Distinguished Lecture Professors, alongside recipients of top national honors such as the Chang Jiang Scholar Award, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and the National Ten-Thousand Talents Program.
The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Yangzhou University is one of the university’s top schools. Preventive Veterinary Medicine is a national and provincial key discipline, and Veterinary Medicine ranks 4th nationwide, leading in graduate development potential. CVM offers complete degree programs and a postdoctoral research station, with three PhD-granting disciplines and six master’s-granting disciplines. It hosts key labs of the Ministry of Agriculture and Jiangsu Province.
The college enrolls 1,027 full-time students and has 101 staff members, including 1 CAE academician, 30 professors, 20 PhD supervisors and 76 master supervisors. With strong research capabilities, CVM has won over 100 national, ministerial and provincial awards, including the first isolation of the gosling plague virus and the development of effective vaccines. It has also secured more than 40 major grants, such as 863 and 973 Hi-tech Projects.

Zhejiang University Veterinary Teaching Hospital is the teaching‑affiliated animal hospital of Zhejiang University College of Animal Sciences. It boasts a well‑rounded team of high‑level professionals with diverse academic backgrounds from home and abroad, and is equipped with state‑of‑the‑art diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. Housed on the Zijingang Campus, it also features laboratories specialised in special testing technologies. Guided by its mission, the hospital provides technical support for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of animal diseases across Zhejiang Province.
