Welcome from
the chair
Dear colleagues, distinguished agronomists,

The overall picture of the world's agricultural systems is one of a growing imbalance between the availability and demand for land and water resources. This has important implications for local and national food self-sufficiency and for the livelihoods of rural communities. Intensive agricultural practices associated with previous productivity increases have been accompanied by the severe degradation of ecosystem services. The risks associated with population pressure and intensification, both on-farm and downstream, are expected to persist and worsen if no measures are adopted to counteract this trend. This is a major challenge for the sustainability of agriculture.

The 3rd International Electronic Conference on Agronomy (IECAG 2023) will be held on October 15‒30, 2023, organised by Agronomy in cooperation with related open access journals (Agriculture, Plants, and Horticulturae) of the academic open access publisher MDPI (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute).

While discussing research breakthroughs, novel technologies, and new ideas, academics, scientists, scholars, and professionals devoted to agronomic science from around the world will exchange and share their experiences and results, discuss the practical challenges encountered and sustainable solutions adopted, and create opportunities to establish business or research relations and find global partners for future collaborations. It is anticipated that a broad range of research and applied topics will be covered during the conference in six-session events. They include plant parasite control, innovation in agro-ecology, efficient use of nutrients and water, digital agriculture, plant improvement methods, and crop management in horticulture and floriculture.

The scope of IECAG 2023 on Agronomy is to cover the whole breadth of agronomy research and provide a forum for presenting and discussing new results. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:

It is our great pleasure to invite academics, scientists, and experts to contribute to and participate in this conference as a great opportunity to communicate their shared passion for agronomy.

Best regards,
Dr. Gianni Bellocchi
